Our Stallion - Aparima Black
We purchased Mr Black in October 2013 from Ike & Kylie Unsworth near Rotorua.
He was bred near Gisborne & is 1/2 Stationbred 1/4 Clydie 1/4 TB, he is by Paul Johnson's 'Doc' (1/2 Gizzy Stationbred 1/2 Clydie - leaving some good showjumpers in North Island) & out of a Mount Hutt Station mare (1/2 Stationbred & 1/2 TB - apparently the Mortlock horses 'S#>! they could jump').
He is 17hh (unofficially) was born in 2005 & to sum him up he is a 'gentle giant' with the characteristics of a smoochy pup!
He is consistently leaving very well put together, attractive progeny with plenty of bling & his dominant trait seems to be his wonderful temperament & horsanality! They are a pleasure to deal with & learn super fast.
He really is a one of a kind Stallion! He is amazing to ride (have had lessons with Jenny Young who also really likes him). We are working on lateral movements which he does with ease, he is super trainable & obliging. He has three very powerful, impressive paces & is light on his feet for such a big boy, he shows lovely rhythm & athletic ability.
He is also easy to handle whilst in with mares, still comes galloping to meet me when I enter the paddock, even though he has his harem around him! His conformation is A+, a lovely compact type & he has great strong feet.
Currently looking into collecting semen - watch this space! Not taking outside mares at the moment. If you are interested in coming to inspect Aparima Black or view his progeny or would like our Service Agreement, please contact us.
